So says Shahid Malik, the International Development Minister and the first Muslim Government Minister in Great Britain. Well, I have news for you, Mr. Malik.
Muslims are NOT the "New Jews." Not by any stretch of the imagination.
The "New Jews" are, amongst others, the indigenous people of Western democracies in Europe, who have welcomed Muslims into their midst over the past forty years, in the naive belief that they would assimilate like any other immigrant group. To help them with this, our political elites have given many of them the advantages of our liberal democracies such as free housing, free education and generous welfare benefits.
But now we see that, like cuckoos in the nest, these very Muslims are taking advantage of the goodwill of the host populations, making demands at every opportunity. In addition, to judge by recent poll results, fully 40 per cent of them would like to replace those same liberal democracies in those host countries with Sharia law. Indeed, if nothing is done, demographics alone suggest that that may be a very real possibility - a profoundly disturbing prospect for all those who care for our hard-won freedoms - although that is a subject for another day.
But the fact remains, Muslims themselves are profoundly anti-Semitic, due in no small part to the teachings of the Islamic texts, which tells Muslims to regard Jews as apes and pigs. This has resulted in a large increase of attacks on Jews by Muslims throughout Europe in recent years.
(Let's not forget, of course, that the spread of Islam over the past 1350 years has resulted in the deaths of at least 270 million non-Muslims around the world, killed by Muslims in the name of Islam. Take a moment out of your day to remember them.)
In short, when considering the sufferings of the Jews, especially those sufferings over the last century when the unspeakable atrocities of the Holocaust were perpetrated, to compare those sufferings with the ridiculous, over-developed sensibilities of the followers of the Religion of the Perpetually Offended - (given the inevitable tendency to violently over-react when someone does something as innocuous as say, looking at your hijab in a funny way) - is nothing short of OBSCENE.
So, Mr. Malik, if you think that prejudice is so terrible, and you don't like it coming in your direction, don't dish it out to others. We have a word for that attitude - hypocrisy. Look it up sometime, why don't you. And while you're at it, why not also look up humility, gratitude, self-reflection and self-criticism. Any dictionary will do. Except perhaps a Muslim dictionary, where those words will most likely be conspicuously absent.
The indefatigable Hugh Fitzgerald has some more on the subject here.
